Mark Vaes

The road from blank sheet to scale up

09:45 – 10:30

Additive Industries was founded in 2012 with the vision to transition metal additive manufacturing from prototyping to series production. Starting with a blank sheet, a market opportunity and a small office in 2013, a product and organization was developed over the course of 2.5 years. Key success factors for successful launch of the product at our first customer Airbus, were razor sharp focus, one shared goal and a talented team. In his presentation Mark Vaes will explain his experiences on how to bring an idea to the market. And what it takes to grow from startup towards a scale up.

Mark Vaes is the CEO and CTO of Additive Industries, responsible for the industrial additive manufacturing solutions of Additive Industries and was the first employee to join the company. In his role as CTO he leads the R&D and Process & Application Development team for the development of new products, applications and materials. Vaes is a member of the Additive Industries board of directors.

Before joining Additive Industries, Vaes held several positions at TNO, the largest Dutch research institute. As program manager Additive Manufacturing he was responsible for all additive manufacturing activities.
